As an Associate Attorney at The McShane Firm, Ms. Genther specializes in appeals. This means that, under the unfortunate circumstances that a successful result is not obtained in the trial court, Ms. Genther uses her foundational skill set and superior research and writing skills to appeal the trial court determination in the Superior or Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
Ms. Genther, like all of the attorneys at The McShane Firm, has attended numerous advanced training sessions and programs designed to enhance her knowledge in the realm of DUI law. She holds certificates both as a Practitioner and as an Instructor in NHTSA/IACP approved Standardized Field Sobriety Testing courses. Additionally, Ms. Genther received a certificate in the NHTSA/IACP Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement course. These courses were specifically designed for police officers to determine whether they should arrest an individual for Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance.
In addition to these training programs, Ms. Genther has also attended several seminars regarding appellate law, such as the Appellate Advocacy Practicum taught by various members of the Superior, Commonwealth and Supreme Courts of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. With this foundational background, Ms. Genther ensures that every aspect of a case is examined for appellate issues and raised in a professional manner in the appellate arena so that each client’s rights are properly protected.

While a student at Duquesne Law School, Ms. Genther served as a contributing writer as well as Research Editor on Duquesne Law Review. She also served as a Student Attorney in the Economic and Community Development Legal Clinic, where she assisted various individuals and non-profit organizations in obtaining tax-exempt status and assisted clients at unemployment compensation hearings. While a third year student at Duquesne Law School, Ms. Genther was awarded the CALI Excellence for the Future Awards® in Criminal Process and Procedure. This program recognizes excellence in achievement by law students in their studies and is given to the student with the highest grade in the class as determined by the instructor. Prior to attending Duquesne Law School, Ms. Genther graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh in 2006, where she double-majored in Administration of Justice (Forensics) and Legal Studies.
Ms. Genther has extensive legal experience. She began to work for the predecessor of The McShane Firm LLC, McShane & Hitchings LLC, as a law clerk while in college and continued to work for the firm during various breaks from college and law school. During the summer of 2008, Ms. Genther clerked for Senior Judge Jim Flaherty of the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, where she gained invaluable experience and assisted the Court by drafting opinions, evaluating appeals and conducting research of various legal issues on a daily basis. During her third year of law school, Ms. Genther worked as a law clerk for a general practice law firm in Pittsburgh, where she performed extensive work for the firms’ criminal law group.
Ms. Genther believes that with hard work and determination, the desired result is possible for the citizen accused.
